Got kids ages 8-12 who are ready for real robotics? Join me for a series of live, online Build BOTS with Kathy Ceceri workshops, hosted by Maker Campus!
They’re based on my book, Bots! Robotics Engineering with Makerspace Activities for Kids, a complete robotics course you can do at home — no expensive kits needed!
In this 5-week live course, I’ll introduce kids to a different robotics system each week and guide them through a short hands-on project. Written instructions and links to real robotics research let kids dive deeper into each topic. After class, they can follow suggestions to keep adding to their projects, and share what they’ve come up with the next week!
Times: Two sections — 3pm Eastern and 3 pm Pacific.
Cost: $165 for five hour-long classes, plus materials (see below)
What You Need: See the complete list of materials by week here! Here’s a summary:
Basic household supplies (index cards, pencils, and scissors), and a few easy-to-find electronics like LEDs and motors. (I’ll even show you how to re-purpose dollar store devices!)
The coding activities use free software you can program and test online with the on-screen simulator. If you’d like to build your own programmable robot, you will also need an inexpensive microcontroller and servo motor.
