Electric City Maker Faire, hosted by the Union College Maker Web, is now in its third year. The 2022 event attracted over 35 exhibitors and 400 guests. Admission is free and features exhibitors, demonstrations, workshops and hands-on activities. Exhibitors include faculty and students, local makers, small businesses, high school STEAM programs, First Robotics, local Maker Spaces from Union, the Capital District, and beyond!

Kids ages 8-12 are invited to the NY Energy Zone in Utica for a special hands-on workshop with STEAM author and educator Kathy Ceceri! Find out how we can generate electricity with wind power, then design and build your own windmill turbine using everyday materials that lights up when it spins!
This workshop starts at 2 pm on Sunday, July 28, and takes approximately 90 minutes. Please arrive early so you have the maximum amount of time to build and test your windmill!

Learn to crochet with Kathy Ceceri and make a Mobius Cuff! This class is suitable for teens who are just learning to crochet or those who've had a bit of practice. All supplies will be provided. Registration is required.

Create a Solar WobbleBot from recycled materials with instructor Kathy Ceceri. Each unique bot will meet this year's Students Rebuild Challenge -- the Extraordinary Earth Project. On Monday, April 8, 2024, people in our area and across North America will get to experience the wonder of a solar eclipse. In this workshop with STEAM author Kathy Ceceri, kids and teens learn how an eclipse occurs, find out what to expect when it happens, and then make their own light-up eclipse simulation.
Younger kids can make a Light-up Corona that glows when you squeeze the moon. Older kids and teens can create a Moon Slider Switch to turn on the corona’s light show at the moment of totality.
I’ll be back at Rochester Maker Faire this year, making my Paper Robot Fin Gripper Claws! Learn how to make a robotic gripper from paper that shapes itself around any object! It's one of the projects from my most recent book, Making Simple Robots 2nd Edition. For ages 8-11, spaces are limited. I’ll also have some old and new low-tech/no-tech projects made from Everyday Stuff to check out, so come by my booth and sign up for a workshop!
