Kathy Ceceri is an award-winning writer, educator, and Maker, with a focus on science, technology, history, and art.

The author of over a dozen books for kids featuring hands-on STEAM activities, Kathy has taught enrichment workshops at schools, museums, libraries, and afterschool programs for close to two decades, both in person and online. She frequently works with educators and parents looking for ways to make learning more engaging and fun.

Kathy also develops teaching and learning materials for organizations. Clients include:

  • Chibitronics — Light-up designs using paper-friendly LEDs for families, classrooms, and professional development.

  • Science Friday: Science activities using everyday supplies for use by teachers and parents.

  • KidWind: Clean energy coding projects for classrooms and informal education settings.

  • Make — Electronics and STEAM projects for the publisher of Make magazine, Maker Faires, and Maker Camp, including books and kits for Maker Shed.

  • Adafruit Industries — Beginner-level robotics projects using the Circuit Playground Express microcontroller and free online MakeCode software.

  • Community Learning — Hands-on curriculum STEAM kits with a story to help students get involved with the topic.

  • Girl Scouts of the USA — Instruction booklets for upper-level robotics badges and for their nationwide cybersecurity competition.

Kathy’s writing about education and hands-on learning projects have been published in magazines including Wired, Sesame Street Parent and Disney’s Family Fun. She was the Homeschooling Expert for About.com (now ThoughtCo), a top contributor to the GeekDad blog and co-founder of the GeekMom blog on Wired.com.

Kathy lives along the Champlain Canal portion of the Hudson River in Upstate New York, where she enjoys biking, kayaking, and talking during movies.
